Walk-In Wood Closet Systems — 100% Solid Wood, Custom Designed
Single-wall, L-shape, U-shape, or island. Real wood. Made in USA.
A walk-in wood closet system should do three things at once: hold a complete wardrobe, look custom-built, and last as long as the house. Most walk-ins fail at one or more of those because they’re built from particle board with a melamine sticker on top — and within a decade the shelves sag, the edges chip, and the urea-formaldehyde glue is still off-gassing into the room you spend the most time getting dressed in. WoodClosets.com by Lundia builds walk-ins from 100% solid lumber, the same construction the White House selected for their 2023 project — and the same construction we’ve put in commercial libraries, hospitals, and military bases for over 50 years.
Walk-In Closet Layouts We Design
Lundia walk-in systems work in any footprint. The most common layouts:
- Single-wall walk-in — One full wall of solid-wood frames, hang bars, drawers, and shelves. Best for narrow walk-throughs.
- L-shape walk-in — Two adjoining walls. Doubles your storage capacity and creates a corner for a bench or seating.
- U-shape walk-in — Three walls of storage. Maximum capacity for medium walk-ins, ideal for couples or large wardrobes.
- Walk-in with island or peninsula — A center island with drawers and a countertop transforms a walk-in into a dressing room. See our solid wood islands & peninsulas.
Choose Your Walk-In Closet Depth
15″ is Lundia’s most popular depth for walk-in closets — and the most popular depth in the closet industry overall — because hanging capacity is identical at 15″, 18″, and 24″. Clothes just stick out about 5″ past the front edge of a 15″ frame, which is industry-standard. Use deeper frames only when you need extra shelf/drawer space (18″) or doors over hanging clothes (24″). Mix depths within the same walk-in to use every inch:
Why Solid Wood for a Walk-In
You spend more time in a walk-in closet than you realize — getting dressed, getting ready, putting laundry away. The air you breathe in there matters. Particle-board and melamine systems off-gas formaldehyde for years; the EPA classifies it as a known human carcinogen. Solid wood does not off-gas. There’s no urea-formaldehyde glue holding the panels together because the panels aren’t glued chips — they’re lumber. View our Material Safety Data.
Walk-ins also tend to hold heavy loads — row after row of hanging clothes, drawers full of folded sweaters, shoe collections. Particle-board shelves visibly sag under that weight; solid wood does not. See Lundia’s strength specs.
Heavy-Duty Steel Hang Bars on Solid Wood Rails
A walk-in is a hang-bar-heavy build — multiple walls, often double-hung — so the hang bar itself matters. Lundia uses solid wood rails that support heavy-duty steel hang bars finished with a durable powder coat. Unlike the bowed, sagging rods you’ll find in most particle-board systems, Lundia hang bars are built to heavy-duty commercial-grade standards and will never bow — period. The same hang bar construction we’ve installed in libraries, hospitals, and military buildings for over 50 years now hangs the clothes in your walk-in.
Made in America. Trusted by the White House.
The Only Formaldehyde-Free Choice for the White House
In 2023, the White House selected Lundia as the only U.S. manufacturer capable of meeting their solid-wood, formaldehyde-free standards.

Walk-In Wood Closet System FAQ
How much does a walk-in wood closet system cost?
It depends on the size and the components, but Lundia walk-ins typically run roughly half the price of California Closets or The Container Store’s premium lines — and ours is real solid wood. See pricing examples for walk-in layouts.
Can I install a walk-in wood closet system myself?
Yes. Lundia walk-ins ship as flat-pack solid-wood components and assemble with a peg system — no carpentry, no specialty tools. Most customers complete a walk-in install in a weekend. See how Lundia works.
What walk-in closet sizes does Lundia fit?
Anything from a 5'×6' starter walk-in to a 12'×14' luxury dressing room. Because the system is modular, you order frames in 1-foot increments and configure walls to match your exact dimensions.
Can I add a center island to a walk-in?
Yes. Lundia builds solid-wood closet islands and peninsulas with drawers, hampers, and countertops. They sit independently in the center of a walk-in or anchor against a wall as a peninsula.
